Bring your Hudl stats into Ball Coach

Start on a computer with access to the tagged games in Hudl. You only need the files you have. Team averages and player averages are a useful starting point; extra files add detail.

The export path: Hudl → Reports → Stats → choose team and games → choose the settings below → Export → Download CSV.

After a new game, export and upload the updated files again. Hudl uploads do not sync automatically. Keep the same season and game sample across related files, then update your Ball Coach report.

Whose stats do you need?

Start with team averages and player averages. Totals are an alternative; you do not need to upload both.

Team averagesGroup: Overall · Averages

Your team’s per-game season overview.

Before uploading: Look for an Overall row and team stat columns. This is a team summary, not a list of players or dates.

On a computer, sign in to Hudl, open Reports, then Stats.
Confirm that your own team is selected in the report.
Use View Other Games to choose the correct season and games. Use the same game sample for related exports; clear player, period, or situation filters you do not intend to use.
Set Side to Team, group by Overall, and set Stat Type to Averages. Keep all athletes selected for a full-team sample.
Choose Export, then Download CSV. Keep the original downloaded file, including its title rows and column headings.
In Ball Coach, open Team → Insights → Self-Scout. Expand Update data (or the initial data setup), then Add team and player stats from Hudl → Upload team averages. Choose the CSV and wait for the upload to finish.
Check that the stats loaded for the right team and season. After all your files are uploaded, use Generate report or Update report to refresh the coaching report.

Export missing? Hudl’s CSV access depends on your package and permissions. Check with your Hudl team administrator. Keep the original CSV; a PDF, screenshot, video link, or renamed Excel workbook will not work.

Player averagesGroup: Athlete · Averages

One season-average row for each of your players.

Before uploading: Look for player names under Athlete, Athletes, Player, or Name, plus stat columns. Check that the expected players are included.

On a computer, sign in to Hudl, open Reports, then Stats.

Use View Other Games to choose the correct season and games. Use the same game sample for related exports; clear player, period, or situation filters you do not intend to use.
Set Side to Team, group by Athlete, and set Stat Type to Averages. Keep all athletes selected for a full-team sample.

Before uploading: Look for an Overall row. Do not use a Game-grouped file here; that is a different report shape.

Player totalsGroup: Athlete · Totals

One row of combined totals for each of your players.

Before uploading: Look for a named row per player and totals for the selected games. Keep player names and the games-played column unchanged.

On a computer, sign in to Hudl, open Reports, then Stats.
Confirm that your own team is selected in the report.
Use View Other Games to choose the correct season and games. Use the same game sample for related exports; clear player, period, or situation filters you do not intend to use.
Set Side to Team, group by Athlete, and set Stat Type to Totals. Keep all athletes selected for a full-team sample.

Upload not working, or numbers look wrong?

I cannot find Export or Download CSV.: Use Hudl on a computer and check your package and permissions with your team administrator. Hudl’s export article currently lists Gold and Platinum teams. If your account looks different, use the official guides below.
The upload says No Overall row, No Date column, or no player names.: Match the file check in the selected guide. Overall produces a team summary; Game produces dated game rows; Athlete produces player rows. Download a fresh CSV with its original headings and title rows.
The stats belong to the wrong team, or look too high or low.: Recheck the selected team, season, games, Side, grouping, and Totals/Averages setting in Hudl. Opponent defensive averages describe what a scouted team allowed; Opponents vs us describes what your own team allowed.
The numbers changed, but the report did not.: Wait for uploads to finish, then choose Generate report or Update report. Uploading a CSV and generating the coaching report are separate steps.
It still fails.: Use Send feedback with the upload name, exact error, and the report settings you selected. Do not send your Hudl password. You can still use available MaxPreps data or manual entry while the file issue is investigated.
